Can we visit any time, and how will I stay updated on my dad’s well-being?
Absolutely – we have an open-door policy for family. You are welcome to visit your dad anytime. This is his home, and we want you and your family to feel welcome here too. We actually encourage family visits and involvement; it keeps our residents happy to stay connected with their loved ones. There may be practical considerations (like avoiding very late-night visits to let residents rest), but generally, you can come whenever it works for you, and you’ll always be greeted with a smile.
As for staying updated, we believe good communication is part of good care. We provide regular updates to families. We’re more than happy to call, text, or email you with news about how your dad is doing. For example, we might send a quick text after lunch to say he loved the apple pie we served, or give you a call if we notice any changes in his health or mood. You’ll also hear from us immediately if there’s any concern – big or small.
What does your all-inclusive pricing include? Are there any extra fees?
Our all-inclusive pricing means exactly that – everything is included in one monthly rate for the level of care required. This is something families really appreciate because it eliminates surprises in the bill. The monthly fee covers your loved one’s private room, all their daily personal care (help with bathing, dressing, grooming, etc.), medication management, three home-cooked meals a day plus snacks, activities and outings, housekeeping, laundry – basically all the essentials of daily living and care are bundled in. The only things not included in that rate would be personal external expenses, like prescription medication costs (through the pharmacy) or services such as a hairdresser or podiatrist visit if those are needed. Can my parent stay here through end-of-life if their health declines?
Yes, our goal is for Floradale Villa to be your parent’s “forever home,” even as their health needs change. We are licensed to care for residents through all stages of aging, and we work closely with hospice agencies when end-of-life care becomes necessary. In practical terms, this means your mom or dad won’t have to move to a nursing home or another facility if they become very frail or terminally ill. We can continue to care for them right here in the home they know. We partner with hospice professionals to provide specialized comfort care and pain management on-site, so all necessary medical support comes to them. This way, your loved one can remain in a familiar environment, surrounded by the caregivers and routines that make them comfortable. Families are always welcome during hospice care – you can visit as often as you want, and we’ll support you as well through what can be a difficult time. How do you care for residents with dementia or memory issues?
We have extensive experience caring for seniors with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, and our approach is very gentle and patient. We establish a daily routine that provides structure without being too rigid – this helps reduce confusion and anxiety. For example, keeping to regular meal times and familiar activities can be very comforting for someone with memory loss. Our home is secured with alarms on the doors (a Wander Alert system) for safety so if your dad or mom tends to wander, they won’t be able to accidentally leave the house unattended. This gives an extra layer of security for our memory care residents. We also use compassionate techniques like redirection and reminiscence therapy. If your dad becomes anxious or confused, we might gently guide him to a soothing activity – like looking through a family photo album or listening to music from his younger days – to help calm and orient him. Because we’re such a small home setting, we can really pay close attention.
Is someone available to help my mom at night, and what happens in case of an emergency?
Yes, we are here for your mom day and night. One of the benefits of having live-in caregivers is that even during the night, if your mom needs assistance or just feels uneasy, someone is on-site and will hear her and come to help. We only have a few residents, so we’re very attentive to each person at all hours. If there's ever an emergency or if your mom suddenly isn’t feeling well, we assess the situation immediately and respond. We’re trained in first aid and CPR, and we won’t hesitate to call 911 if needed. In fact, we are just 7 miles away from a major hospital (Sutter Roseville Medical Center) so emergency services can arrive quickly and we can get her to the ER fast if it ever came to that. We also keep emergency contact info for every resident, so we would notify you right away if anything serious happened. Your mom’s safety is our absolute priority 24/7.
